DESIGNER BIO/ BACKGROUND

I grew up with the underground culture and carried many of the values and aesthetic of that world. It was never about the brand or how expensive my wardrobe was, but about seeing how the mainstream culture would take those raw ideologies and softened it for the market. As I got older, I carried the trickle up fashion close to heart but now I have the capabilities to experiment with sophisticated materials and artisan crafted notions. I started my body modification jewelry business when I was a senior in high school and it helped finance my schooling and projects. During those times, I traveled and sourced material that are slightly unorthodox and shocking to most. I learned the ins and outs of garment manufacturing right out of college and started Porter South. Combining my love for street style and respect for traditional menswear, I am hoping that I can articulate my view of fashion into tangible garments and accessories. I go as far as carving my trench coat buttons out of buffalo horn and obsidian just to show that material substitution can create depth in clothing.
