Orange County – February 14, 2017 – Fashion collides with innovation, beauty and art for the 2017 season of OC Fashion Week® (OCFW). Beginning March 6, 2017, OCFW will open its runway for four days of the season’s best in ready-to-wear and one-of-a-kind couture collections.

“We’re excited for the runway to begin once more as we welcome some of today’s most innovative designers to Orange County,” commented Kathy Marino, producer of OCFW. Pardon my French Nails were announced official "Nail Bar" of OC Fashion Week and Amazing Lash Studios announced official "Lash" Beauty Sponsor. We couldn't be more excited to have these amazing beauty sponsors on board.

Orange County has been recognized as one of California’s most luxurious market and growing fashion metropolis. It is quickly becoming the ultimate destination for designers and retail brands to expand their business and expose themselves to some of today’s most influential buyers and consumers. Designers from around the globe, including Vietnamese designer Dawn Sunflower who opened her fashion house in Corona Del Mar to upcoming Columbian designer Pedro Pablo Pacheco’s house in Newport Beach. Pacheco’s fine skills were mastered with the help of his work under Italian designer Emilio Pucci for five years and designed for singer, Shakira. Fashion designers are recognizing the OC as a vital location to grow and have realized a growing economic retail shift to launch their brands in a metropolis that cultivates fashion tourism.

“At some point a more direct approach to consumers will be needed for emerging designers to survive the high cost of launching, aside from receiving press recognition in highly favorable fashion capitals, there stands a greater priority that is focused on exposure to a large consumer market with great spend. We are observing the retail market intensely and realize this need as a strong anchor for fashion designers to be discovered,” affirmed Marino.

The consumer retail expenditures in Orange County has been recorded by the U.S. Census in the upwards of $37 billion, thus revealing to tourists abroad as a leading fashion metropolis for consumers traveling seeking unique, off-the-runway pieces that can easily be found at prominent retail giants such as South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island.  According to a recent California News Apparel article, South Coast Plaza (celebrating 50 years) brings in “annual sales approaching $2 billion.”

We truly have an amazing fashion climate unlike any other. Bold economic outcomes in retail sales reveal strength in our fashion tourism, and it shows in the numbers. It is here that the OC paves the way for emerging designers to shine,” commented Marino

At the end of the day, fashion apparel is a business that requires sales to survive. The OC has become the perfect incubator for many brands and designers to launch and prevail due to its diversified group of consumers, international shopping destinations, and exclusive luxury boutiques with elite buyers. OCFW 2017 will welcome an array of talented international designers to the runway as they share their collection with the Orange County fashion market. “Each runway will offer a distinct collection that will inspire and ignite any luxury apparel purveyor's passion for fashion,” commented Marino.

So we do ponder on a thought, if a fashion capital was based on retail spend, could California’s most coveted luxury retail market be a strong contender as the next fashion capital? With success in mind, we are Orange County Fashion Week®.
