JAMIELLE RANKINE-KIRLEW

Jamielle was born on the island of Jamaica in the city of Kingston. Ever since she was a little girl, Jamielle was captivated by the way clothing transformed women into moving pieces of art which allowed them to be who they wanted to be for that moment. That love grew as she got older and when her family migrated from Jamaica to the United States, she knew she wanted to start a career in Fashion. From enrolling into an Introductory Sewing class to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), where she later earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Fashion Design. It was during an assignment at FIDM that MUMA the name of her brand, was first created. MUMA meaning mother and strength paid homage to her Jamaican roots. Jamielle has worked as a Assistant Couture Designer for Ansari Couture in Newport Beach, but decided to take a leap of faith and invest completely in her own collection by entering a 13 week course at Christ Our Redeemer (COR) Innovative Impact Fund, which would provide a micro loan to the winner to start their business. Jamielle placed first, and the journey for MUMA began. MUMA has been apart of RAW Natural Born Artists Runway shows as well a other small shows in Los Angeles and New York City. MUMA is now being carried in C|Dobbs Boutique located in Fashion Island, Newport Beach. Jamielle plans to continue growing her brand, and making MUMA a name known by fashion lovers in the world, with stores and show rooms for all customers to visit.

The glamour of it all. The possibility to have fashion lovers see my passion through my designs.
